The Waiting Game

The anticipation is killing me!! I really feel like my whole pregnancy has flown by. Until now. These past two weeks have gone soooo slowly. I feel like the time between now and when Baby P is born will also move in slow motion. Someone told me that once you hit that 9th month, it goes so fast from there. Lies. All lies. So here I am, someone who is not good with surprises and not all that patient, just waiting. I'm actually sort of glad that I'm still working because it keeps my mind on something else during the day. However, this past week we had a four day weekend for Fall Break. Here's some of things I could have done with my time off:

  • finshing the nursery

  • washing, folding, and putting awat all of the clothes, blankets, and other linens washed,

  • writing thank yous

  • addressing the baby announcements

  • cleaning/picking up the house

  • the house has been cleaned

  • getting the laundry washed, folderd, ironed, and put away

Too bad ALL of these things have been done. Some of them for quite a while now. So, what's a girl to do with her extra time? Well, I decided that we would need dinner for after the baby was born. So I spent a bunch of time planning, shopping, and cooking freezable meals. I currently have four meals done, plus two boxed lasagnas and plans to add another creation of mine or two to the mix.

Our freezer isn't very big and is slowly running out of room with all of these casserole dishes stacking up. Hopefully Baby P will make his debut soon, or I will have to find a new project to take up my time (someone told me to just take the time to relax, but this is just not going to happen. Everytime I sit down to relax, the anticipation and anxiety start to drive me crazy. Better for me to stay busy at this point!)

38 Weeks!

Here I am at 38 weeks! Two weeks until the little guy's due date! I'm not sure there's much change from last week, other than the fact that you can more clearly see the stretch marks peaking over the side of my jeans. I have to say, though, what you see is all I have gotten, so I feel pretty happy about that.
My doctor's appointment today went well and everything looked good. I am dialated 1 cm (that's 1/2 cm more than last week) and 50% effaced (hasn't changed since last week). Nothing big, but we're definitely on our way. My doctor guessed that right now, Baby P is probably close to 7lbs. I had been a little concerned because I felt like Baby P wasn't moving as much these last couple of days. The doctor did an ultrasound and a non-stress test to check it out. Everything looked great and he told me that Baby P might just have moved into a position that was making it slightly more difficult for me to feel him. We'll see where we are at next week at our doctor's appointment or maybe we'll have a baby before then!

I also came home today to find this:
At least someone is enjoying the deluxe baby posturepedic for now, right?

37 Weeks

Here I am at 37 weeks - full term! Since our baby will come whenever he is ready, I decided to start doing weekly pictures from here on out. Of course people have been asking how I'm feeling...at this point nothing seems to be going on. I'm not noticing anything that would signal to me that he will be here very soon, but it's my first time around, so what do I know!

Tomorrow I will have the first of my weekly doctor appointments from here on out, so I will keep everyone updated on what (if anything) is happening!
Today I was also given a wonderful baby shower by my co-workers. I had a great time and our baby is certainly very loved. We appreciate everyone's generosity so much and want to thank everyone for investing in our growing family!

36 weeks!

Today we hit the 36 week mark - Baby P is beginning his 9th month! After we complete this week and move into our 37th week, Baby P will officially be considered full-term.

Last week we had a doctor's appointment and got the chance to see an ultrasound of our baby boy again. It was unexpected surprise to walk into the appointment and have the doctor announce that he would be performing the ultrasound to see what position the baby was in. Baby P is head down and ready to go whenever he decides it's time! Starting next week (week 37) we will be making weekly visits to the doctor's office where he will begin checking for dilation, effacement, and station. The office had me make all the rest of my appointments up through week 41 (let's hope not). At this point we just wait for our little guy to arrive...hopefully the anticipation won't drive me too crazy!

All of the delicious food - yummy, yummy!

Cute table decorations!

Lots of love for our little guy.

A cute, little stool monogrammed with our baby's name!

Michael and my dad, who had fun watching a movie during then shower and then got to load up the car afterwards.

Loads of Fun!

Loads of fun, indeed! Thanks to my fantastic new washer and dryer, doing laundry will be even more fun (yes, I'm a freak that enjoys doing laundry). On Monday I came home and was greeted with a new front loading washer and dryer - a wonderful present from my wonderful husband. He explained that these were my present for giving birth to our son. Most people don't get their present until after the birth, but he figured that these would come in handy the next few weeks while I was washing little baby clothes and blankets as one of the final things to do before our baby boy arrives. I love it!! And my apologies for the pictures, we have a pretty small, narrow laundry room, so it was difficult to get a good picture of the shiny new appliances!
